The Xumao Teapot takes its name from its distinctive lid, which resembles the traditional bamboo hats worn in ancient China. With its elegant silhouette, flowing lines, and balanced proportions, the teapot embodies the refined spirit of traditional Chinese literati aesthetics while offering both beauty and functionality.
This teapot is fully handcrafted from authentic Zhuni clay. Known for its fine texture and high iron content, Zhuni develops a vibrant reddish color after firing. With regular use, the surface gradually forms a smooth, lustrous patina, becoming increasingly rich in character over time.
Due to Zhuni's exceptionally high shrinkage rate, it is highly susceptible to warping or cracking during firing. As a result, successful handmade Zhuni teapots require considerable skill and experience, making each finished piece especially valuable and highly regarded by collectors.
The interior features a spherical filter hole design that ensures a smooth, even pour with clean water cutoff while enhancing aroma retention. It is particularly well suited for brewing Oolong tea, Pu-erh tea, and Qimen Ancha, allowing the tea's flavor and fragrance to fully develop.
Whether enjoyed as a daily tea companion, displayed on a tea table, gifted to a fellow tea enthusiast, or added to a personal collection, the Xumao Teapot showcases the enduring charm and craftsmanship of traditional Yixing teaware.
