Working Principle and Proper Usage
Principle: Through physical friction, it mechanically removes the outermost layer of dead skin cells (keratin) to achieve deep cleansing and temporarily smooth skin.
To maximize effectiveness and avoid injury, follow these steps:
Thorough Preheating: During bathing, first rinse your body with hot water for 5-10 minutes to fully soften the skin's keratin layer and open pores. This is essential for effortless exfoliation.
Use with Lubrication: After wetting the body, apply body wash, soap, or exfoliating gel. Create a lather before using the loofah. This significantly reduces friction, enables gentle scrubbing, and minimizes skin damage.
Gentle Technique: Use circular motions or light, unidirectional strokes. Avoid using brute force. Scrub only until you feel debris being removed. Slight redness is normal, but stinging or visible red marks indicate excessive pressure.
Control frequency: For most people, exfoliating 1-2 times per week is sufficient. Overuse can lead to excessive removal of the stratum corneum, causing thinner, more sensitive, dry, or even itchy skin.
Post-care: After exfoliation, skin is clean but its barrier is temporarily compromised. Always apply body lotion or moisturizer to replenish hydration, lock in moisture, and aid barrier repair.
