“You Fu Qi” Fu Brick Tea carries centuries of history and the traditional wellness culture of Chinese dark tea. Around 1644, tea merchants in Anhua, Hunan began producing compressed dark tea bricks during the hottest days of summer, a process that led to the development of the famous golden “flowers” inside the tea. Because the tea was produced during the “Fu” season of summer, it became known as “Fu Tea.” Later, it was also called “Fu Cha” or “Fortune Tea” due to its mellow character and long-standing reputation in traditional wellness culture. The golden particles inside the tea, scientifically known as Eurotium Cristatum, are considered beneficial probiotic fungi that help transform the tea during aging, enhancing both aroma and flavor. For centuries, Fu Brick Tea was an essential part of the daily diet of frontier communities, and it remains highly valued today as a comforting tea for modern lifestyles filled with stress and fast-paced routines.
“You Fu Qi” is crafted from carefully selected Anhua large-leaf dark tea grown in the unique ecological environment of Anhua County, Hunan. The region’s subtropical monsoon climate, mountain landscapes, abundant rainfall, and rare glacial rock soil rich in zinc, selenium, and organic minerals create ideal conditions for tea cultivation. Using traditional craftsmanship, the tea is carefully compressed and aged for more than two years, allowing the harsh grassy and smoky notes of freshly processed tea to gradually mellow into a deeper and smoother flavor. The tea brick is evenly compressed with clean edges, while the interior develops abundant golden flowers, a hallmark of high-quality Fu Brick Tea.
When brewed, the tea produces a bright amber-orange liquor with a smooth, jade-like texture. The aroma is rich and lively, featuring distinctive fungal floral notes balanced by subtle caramel-like sweetness. The flavor is mellow, smooth, and full-bodied, with a lasting sweet aftertaste and deep aged character. As a post-fermented dark tea, Fu Brick Tea is known for improving with age, developing greater depth and complexity over time. Suitable for both hot and cold brewing, it is a versatile tea that can be enjoyed throughout all seasons.
