Promotes digestion and relieves indigestion: The organic acids in hawthorn and the alkaloids in lotus leaves do help promote gastric juice secretion and accelerate intestinal peristalsis, relieving bloating and indigestion after occasional overeating.
Aids in promoting diuresis and reducing swelling: Winter melon and lotus leaves have a mild diuretic effect, which may temporarily reduce weight loss caused by edema. However, this is related to water excretion, not fat reduction.
May inhibit some starch absorption: The α-amylase inhibitor in white kidney bean extract can theoretically block the breakdown of some starch into sugar, thereby reducing calorie absorption. However, the effect varies from person to person and is ineffective against fats and simple sugars.
