Instructions
Pressure Cooker Method:
1 bowl of grain, add 3-4 bowls of water after washing. Cook in electric pressure cooker for about 2 hours. The ratio of grain to water should be about 1:4. Add water accordingly, but don't add too much!
Regular Cooking Method:
1 bowl of grain, add 3-4 bowls of water after washing. Soak for about 2-8 hours, then cook in a pot/rice cooker for 2-3 hours. (Note: Too much water will make it less thick, too little water may cause burning)
For Softer Texture:
Add a small amount of edible alkali or baking soda for a softer texture (don't add too much, it will become bitter). If you like it sweet, add some rock sugar while cooking for better taste.
Pairing With Kidney Beans:
Add a small amount of kidney beans for better flavor and aroma. Note: Purple kidney beans contain natural plant pigments. If too many are added, the porridge color will deepen and darken, and it may become bitter!
